The CNB was founded in 1992 and it is the leading biotechnology research centre in Spain. Research at the CNB focuses on major scientific and societal challenges: infectious diseases, inflammation and cancer, the sustainability of safe food production, and the bioremediation of environmentally relevant emissions. These challenges are resolved with versatile and multidisciplinary research that combines molecular biology methods with the latest technology in the fields of functional and structural biology.

International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL)

The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) is a joint R&D institution between Portugal and Spain. It is based in Braga, Portugal, with its research focusing on the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The INL was founded to perform interdisciplinary research and deploy and articulate nanotechnology for the benefit of society. The INL aims to become the worldwide hub for nanotechnology addressing society’s grand challenges.

Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI)

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem opened its doors in 1925. It is a premier university and a leading research institution in Israel. The researchers of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem are at the forefront of international research in both sciences and humanities, ranging from biotechnology, computer science, astrophysics, cancer research, microbiology, solar energy, and genetic engineering to Jewish studies, social sciences, and law. The university has fruitful research activity with 3,600 research projects in progress and 1,500 new projects every year.

Linköping University (LiU)

Linköping University (LiU) opened its doors in 1975, making it Sweden’s sixth university. It is world-leading in research, combining boundary-crossing education in close and productive collaboration with the society and industry. LiU has a wide range of research lines, including medicine and health sciences, computer science and IT research, culture, design, energy and environment, material sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences.

Instituto Investigación Sanitaria Fundación Jiménez Díaz (IIS-FJD)

The Instituto Investigación Sanitaria Fundación Jimenez Diaz is a healthcare centre with a private and public administration, founded in Madrid, Spain in 1955. Its work covers three principal fields, healthcare, teaching, and research. Its objective is to promote excellent research, scientific and technological knowledge, teaching, and training in the hospital, and facilitate the efficient transfer of advances in research and innovation to healthcare services.

Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII)

The Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) opened its doors in Madrid in 1986 to give scientific and technical support to the Spanish national health system. The mission of the institution is to improve the health of all citizens while fighting diseases, through the promotion of research and innovation in health sciences, biomedicine and healthcare. Besides, the institution carries out teaching programmes designed for the Spanish national health system.
